While glamping on Orcas Island in Moran State Park makes enjoying the Island outdoors easy all spring and summer, it’s even easier now that we’ve entered September and the ‘easy season!’ Here are our top five reasons to get glamping with us this easy season:
1. (Almost) no wait list!
Our glamping sites in Moran State Park have been pretty popular over the past few years so we may have been all booked up for the dates that you were looking to stay with us – especially in the busy summer season. While September and October weekends are already well-booked, you should be able to find a glamping site that works for you if you’re able to visit us midweek.
Tip: Book early! September is still a popular month for glamping!
2. Smooth(er) Sailing
While the Washington State Ferry reservation system has sure helped ease the stress of summer travel to the San Juan Islands, sometimes getting the boat that you want still poses a challenge. Just like our glamping sites, you should find it easier to book your preferred Washington State Ferry sailing time now that summer travel has tapered off.
Tip: Don’t let your ferry slip away – we still recommend booking your ferry reservation well in advance!
3. Relaxed Rates
While we do our best to keep our rates competitive all season long, there’s no question that we offer some even more attractive specials before and after the busy season. So take glamping off of your bucket list and book your Washington State glamping site today!

4. Cozy Campfires
The start of September usually signals the start of cooler temps and great glamping weather. This year, it also means that the State has lifted the burn ban and that wood and charcoal campfires are allowed once again in designated fire rings. With the sun setting earlier in the day, you’ll be able to enjoy more campfire time, too.
Tip: Conditions change quickly so stay tuned for the latest fire restrictions!
5. Real beds and bedding
There’s something so enchanting about being comfortable… in a tent… in the woods… especially when there’s a chill in the air. If you’ve ever been stuck on an air mattress… on the ground…with a damp sleeping bag then you know how magical comfort on a fall camping trip can be.
Tip: Our glamping tents do not offer a heat source!
