2023 Season Experience Update: B.Y.O.B. (bring your own bedding and bath supplies)
We setup cedar platforms with canvas tents on walk-in Moran State Park campsites.
You take it from there.
Did you know that Eastsound Orcas Island has a Mayor? It’s true. Orcas Island may be the only place you visit this summer whose Mayor has four legs and a knack for searching your pockets for treats. Yes, you did read that correctly!
Each year, on the Emerald Isle of Orcas Island, Eastsound elects an honorary mayor from a local pool of worthy animal candidates. From whales, to cows, to man’s best friend, Orcas Island has had a whole menagerie of fury political leader candidates.
The Children’s House hosts this honorary election as an annual fundraiser. They’re a dynamic early childhood learning center that invites Islanders and visitors to literally buy their favorite candidate into office. You get unlimited votes, and each vote costs just a dollar.
Hudson the Retriever has been a fine Mayor for Eastsound. He’s served our little off-beat community well this past year. He’s now ready to step down, and open the door for one of the four candidates running in the 2018 election.
Meet the Candidates
Tinker the bunny believes in healthy living. Ginger the pony wants us to reduce wasteful plastic use. Two dogs are in the pack of candidates: Rocky and Sgt. Pepper. Their platforms are based on community love and inclusiveness. With such a diverse pool of future leaders, you’re sure to find the perfect candidate for you!
Check out the Orcas Island Farmer’s Market on Saturdays from now until July 7th to meet the candidates, and learn more about where they see the future of your favorite island heading!
Cast your vote at a variety of locations throughout town, including the Farmer’s Market until July 7th at 3pm.
There’s nothing like Glamping with LEANTO, located in the heart of Moran State Park to fully appreciate the beauty of Orcas Island.
