If you’re looking for a quick and rewarding hike to the summit of Mt. Constitution in Moran State Park on Orcas Island, then we highly recommend you kick things off at the Little Summit trailhead and take it to the top. From here, you’ll have a 2.2 mile hike to the tower that offers a pretty good climb (almost 400’ gained).
This hike on Orcas Island offers up a nice walk through a big lodge-pole pine forest along with big views to the East (on a clear day) of Mt. Baker, maybe Mt, Rainier, some of the Cascade Range and even some of the Olympic Mountains. Again, that’s only if it’s clear enough ;-).
This is also a great hike for a lunch break. At just under 2.5 miles one way, it’s worth planning for rewarding refreshments once you make it to the top! Want more? The Summit Gift Shop and Summit Learning Center are waiting for you at the top, too.
Looking for an even bigger adventure?! Stay tuned – we’ll cover lots of longer loops that include the summit of Mt. Constitution and other points of interest in Moran State Park! Most important, don’t forget to take the easy way out and go glamping in Moran State Park!
