You take it from there.
Why do we write about the Orcas Island Solstice Parade every year? Because we go every year! The Orcas Island Solstice Parade is an Island treasure, and certainly one of the most authentic annual community events. This year, the parade theme is “Carnival of Elements.” As usual, the parade starts at high noon in Eastsound on June 22, 2019, and it’s FREE!
Route
The parade will travel down Main Street, hop on North Beach Road, and wrap up at the Village Green. Don’t be fooled – the fun doesn’t stop there. There’s always lots of music and dancing on stage at the Village Green. Oh, and don’t forget that the Farmer’s Market will be in full-swing, too!
Rules
What makes the Orcas Island Solstice Parade extra special? It’s a foot parade so there are no motorized vehicles, livestock, or written words to distract from the lively participants and off-the-charts costumes. Speaking of costumes, everyone is welcome to participate in the parade, and coordinators even offer costume-making workshops!
Rejoice
If you’ve not experienced the San Juan Islands in the summer, you’ve got to book your getaway right away! Not only are the days really long with sun-up around 5am and sun-down after 9pm, the temperatures are generally right on-target, too. Out highest highs usually top-out close to 80°, and lows quickly rush in around 50° in the evening and overnight hours.
Relax
With oodles of Orcas Island daylight, and terrific temps, you’ll want to spend your entire Orcas Island vacation outdoors. Our fully-outfitted glamping sites in the heart of Moran State Park are the perfect solution. We’ve done all of the heavy-lifting for you, so all that you’ve got to do is book, check-in, and relax. Take the easy way out.®
