Though you could probably spend about a week at your Moran State Park glamping site just exploring this majestic Washington State Park, there are plenty of almost world-famous events held annually on Orcas Island if you’re looking for just a smidge more action!
If you’re thinking about an early pre-glamping-season adventure, then you might want to check out the Orcas Island Shakespeare Festival. It looks like the 2016 Festival will be from March 29 – April 2, 2016 so it’ll happen before we open the Tent Flaps for the 2016 season. This Festival is always a huge hit and will likely feature costumed performers, an Eastsound Parade, street theater, and a performance or two!
Welcome summer with the Summer Solstice Parade in Eastsound! Orcas Islanders go all out for this annual parade with wacky colorful costumes, marching bands, a huge Earth ball, music and more. One of the best parades in the islands, this whimsical and always delightful foot parade begins at 12:00 noon and winds its way up North Beach Road ending at the Village Green where the Orcas Island Farmers’ Market will be in full swing. The parade is immediately followed by live music and dance performances at the Stage on the Green.
Planning on glamping for the 4th of July? Orcas Island is the only Island in the San Juans we know about with two fireworks show on two separate days! Deer Harbor will host their annual fireworks display on Sunday, July 3rd and Eastsound will treat you to a great 4th of July fireworks display on Monday, July 4th!
The Orcas Island Cider and Mead Festival has become quite a success and will be held July 23, 2016 to benefit the Island’s Farm to Cafeteria Program. The festival will feature an awesome variety of hard cider and mead producers from California to Canada who will be pouring samples and selling bottles to take home. There will also be music and fermentation demos at the festival and food pairings at local restaurants and bars.
August is jammed packed with action including the annual fly-in and Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival!
Stay tuned to both the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce and the San Juan Island Visitor’s Bureau as they do a great job keeping their event calendars up-to-date!
